The Ascension
6
So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, are you restoring the kingdom to Israel at this time?”
7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
9 After he had said this, he was taken up as they were watching, and a cloud took him out of their sight. 10 While he was going, they were gazing into heaven, and suddenly two men in white clothes stood by them. 11 They said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up into heaven? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come in the same way that you have seen him going into heaven.”
Acts 1:6-11 CSB
Prayer: Heavenly Father, authority of all things on Heaven and on earth, on who’s authority all things are fixed, we recognize your son, Jesus, as king and who’s kingdom will be established again. We confess that we have not given ourselves wholly to your plans. We confess that we have both actively and passively been disobedient. You knew all this, yet you still sent Jesus to die on our behalf. We are honored that you have given us the power of the Holy Spirit. We are honored that you have chosen us to be your witnesses on earth. We believe that you will return and we recognize that there is work to be done until that day comes. We pray that we can see the world as you see it. We pray that we will witness with a sense of urgency and eagerness. We pray that the message of the Gospel will be so impactful in our lives that we can’t help but to share it with everyone. We pray that we will faithfully go where you send us and be useful while we are there. We submit ourselves to your authority and your perfect plans. In Jesus name, amen.
