Struggles in the Christian Life

10 But you have followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, and endurance, 11 along with the persecutions and sufferings that came to me in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. What persecutions I endured—and yet the Lord rescued me from them all. 12 In fact, all who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. 13 Evil people and impostors will become worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and firmly believed. You know those who taught you, 15 and you know that from infancy you have known the sacred Scriptures, which are able to give you wisdom for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

    • God has blessed us with his word to equip us for every good work
  • What does this teach us about people/ourselves?

    • We need to read, study, meditate, and obey God’s word
    • God’s word gives us wisdom and strengthens our faith in Jesus Christ
    • The reading, studying, meditation, and obedience in following God’s word will equip us for every good work
    • We find out the promises of God and learn the faithfulness of God in studying his word
  • By God's grace, how will you obey?

    • Pray and ask God for desire to read and study his word
    • We must intentionally, prioritize the reading, studying, meditation of God’s word
    • We must intentionally seek fellowship with other believers in the studying of God’s word
    • We must remember that there are distractions that try to keep us from reading God’s word

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you Lord for your word, your word which is breathed out by you by your Holy Spirit that is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness. Lord you invite us to learn more about you, to commune with you in the study of your word. Lord, you speak to us in your word, for it is a lamp unto our feet and a light onto our path. Lord may we hunger and thirst for your word, may we desire to hear from you and learn of your promises, may we seek your will for our lives and not our own. Lord may we seek fellowship with others in reading, and studying your word, for your word is the only truth. May we reflect on your word to remind us daily that you are  good, holy, and everlasting. Lord we thank you that you have provided your word to equip us for every good work. In Jesus name-AMEN
